SCP has extensive experience of the specific requirements of retail developments from the perspective both of developers and operators.

We are involved from the outset of a project assisting the architect with master-planning and internal-layout issues and advising on parking numbers and servicing requirements. We provide the required formal Transport Assessment documentation and Travel Plans to support development proposals through the planning process. We also offer additional services post planning permission to discharge conditions, satisfy planning obligations and to secure technical approval for highway improvements undertaken through a Section 278 Agreement.

  • 1Birkenhead Town Centre Redevelopment

    SCP were commissioned to prepare a comprehensive transport assessment to accompany a planning application for the redevelopment of Birkenhead Town Centre. The proposals incorporated 80,000 sq ft of non-food retail development and 90,000 sq ft for a major food-retail operator.




  • 2The Loom, Leigh

    SCP was commissioned by London-based developer Salmon Harvester to provide full highways support for their mixed-use redevelopment scheme for the former Quinn Radiator Works in Leigh, Wigan. The site, now known as The Loom comprises a 10,393m2 Tesco supermarket with a 6-pump PFS and 7-screen Cineworld multiplex. There are also four restaurant units and parking for 800 cars.




    jubileeJubilee Place Retail Mall Extension

    SCP was commissioned to undertake design co-ordination activities for the 43,000sq ft extension to the existing Jubilee Place shopping mall at Canary Wharf. The extended mall takes up redundant sub-ground car parking space following completion of the Jubilee Line extension. The original 550-space car park was reduced to circa 180 spaces, while capacity for motorcycles was increased to 170. We designed the layout of the car park to also maximise cycle parking and include for electronic charging points.



    uxbridgeRetail-Led Mixed-Use Development at Hillingdon Circus, Uxbridge

    SCP are retained by Bridehall Ltd as specialist advisors on micro-simulation modelling (VISSIM) for the assessment of a new 6,800sqm foodstore, an 82-bed hotel and 107 residential flats. We advised on the alterations to the site access and on a package of off-site highway works. In spite of a positive highways recommendation by TfL, the application was refused at committee.
